At Re:Call we will be assigned places at tables with other ministers. The idea is to encourage us to build relationships with people who are not in our normal circles of friendship. This has me wondering about the nature of the fellowship we are seeking to share and how theological differences affect this fellowship.
I don't expect everyone to share all my views. On many issues this is of little consequence. Yet on other issues this does matter to me. I consider some positions held by ministers to be dangerous to the health of the Christian church (I suppose that they might consider some of my beliefs to be intolerant or narrow). Will we be encouraged to simply embrace diversity? Where should the boundary-lines be set for what is acceptable belief within the denomination? What should be done with those whose beliefs fall outside these boundaries? Are we to simply lay real differences aside for the sake of a shallow peace? How do you confront others without coming across as an arrogant schmuck?
