Film of the year (2008?)

On a Monday afternoon I go off to the cinema (it's time out). I have seen a lot of movies but a few stand out. I was going to call these three my films of the year 2008 but it seems that a couple of them were released in 2007. Here are the three films (in order of preference) I most highly commend of the last year and a bit:

1. Lars and the Real Girl. When I heard of this film I was really keen to go see it. However it was not released in any cinema near us. I had to wait until it came out on DVD.

Lars orders a blow-up doll to be his girlfriend and in a delusion believes that she is real. The sympathetic doctor tells people that they need to go along with Lars' delusion. This is a beautiful film about community.

2. Into the wild. This film was different than I was expecting. I thought it was brilliant. It is the true story about a young man who travels to Alaska to get a way from the rat race and find himself. I won't give any more of the story away.

His journey takes him around different parts of the states and he experiences rich friendships on the way. This film is amazingly shot, the scenery is superb.

3. Juno. About a pregnant teen preparing for a planned adoption and sorting her life out. Juno is a winsome character. It is funny and sincere.
Other movies that come to mind are Changling, Batman 'The Dark Knight' and Gone Baby Gone.
